Hollywood Swagger recently had the opportunity to catch up with model/ fitness advocate Kara Esades. What makes Kara different than most models is her approach that a healthy lifestyle does not have to be sacrificed to pursue a career in front of the camera. Take a look at her exclusive interview below-
HS: First and foremost thank you for taking the time to do this interview Kara, please tell our readers a little about yourself.
Kara: I am a health and fitness fanatic. I am a fitness competitor. I am looking to do many more things in the field, modeling, promoting, speaking, teaching. I am a chameleon when it comes to life. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I am very honest and extremely loyal. I enjoy helping others and have a passion for making people happy.
HS: Would you say that modeling or living a healthy lifestyle is harder for you to do?
Kara: I am very involved in health and fitness. Being a competitor demands it, but I’ve always lived the healthier lifestyle. That is second nature and happens without hesitation. With that said, I’d have to say that modeling is a challenge. When presented with words of what the photographer/artist has envisioned, it can be challenging and also rewarding to be able to truly decipher those words and be able to utilize my body and expressions to match their vision.
HS: Very well said, that’s not a response we hear often in this area. Speaking of which, where did you grow up and how long have you lived in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area?
Kara: I have always been here in southern California. I can also say that I don’t believe I could ever live anwhere else!
HS: Our website is all about the swagger, or energy, that comes with the city of Hollywood- in what ways do you notice that this city is different than anywhere else in the world?
Kara: In many ways, Hollywood is different… Hollywood is one of the most diverse cities you’ll find. It is amazing to sit for a while and watch the different walks of life that are encaptured in the city. Day or night, you’ll find an energy that sits with everyone that lives, works and passes through Hollywood on a regular basis. It is a place that can satisfy any type of desire one might be looking for. There are historial places, tourist attractions, celebrities, restaurants, nightlife attractions and the families and friends that reside here.
HS: I’m sure there can be a lot of negative temptations here for someone trying to stay on a strict healthy regiment, so what does a normal day consist of for you?
Kara: I’m training for the Los Angeles Fitness Expo on January 29th and 30th right now. I will be waking up early in the morning for my first cardio session before breakfast. I’ll make breakfast and the rest of my meals for the day, pack up and head to the gym for a weight-lifting session, follow that with lunch, a nap, dinner, another cardio session and follow that with a hot bath for meditation and a protein shake before bed. The same routine is followed on an almost daily basis.
HS: Very impressive, and what do you like to do in your leisure time for fun?
Kara: My spare time is filled up with networking with people in the fitness/modeling industry. I spend a lot of my time doing research to gain knowledge that will not only benefit my goals, but it will help fans of mine to reach theirs. I love to be active whether its running, cycling or walking the beaches. I do have my days every now and then when I will veg out in front of the tv and play my favorite movies! Whatever I’m doing, I have to be comfortable and happy!
HS: Any upcoming project or plans that your fans should look out for?
Kara: I will be at the Los Angeles Fitness Expo at the VPX booth on January 29th and 30th. In February, I’ll be modeling for a bikini line in San Diego. I will be in a number of fitness competitions this year and for those, friends and fans can visit my fan page on Facebook to stay updated on the locations of competitions, photoshoots and events!
HS: Do you have any advice for young up and coming models?
Kara: The advice I would give is to make sure they stay true to themselves. What I have done in my life so far has been because I’ve wanted to do everything. The path to a goal may have defined lines… but the way to your DREAM never does. Make small goals along the way to get to your dream. Set boundaries and limits to make sure you obtain your goals, but never, never stop at anything to make it to your dreams…
HS: Now that it’s the start of 2011, did you make any new year’s resolutions?
Kara: This is the first year that I haven’t set any specific resolution. I have just told myself that this year, being a current NPC Bikini Competitor, I’ll stop at nothing to become a professional (receive my PRO CARD in the IFBB), bikini competitor in the IFBB. This will be the year that I train and diet harder than I ever have before.
HS: Clearly you’re a very ambitious person, is there anything outside modeling and doing fitness competitions that would like to do?
Kara: I have a personal goal of becoming a motivational speaker. I’d like to travel the nation – even internationally – to speak about how I came to start my fitness/modeling career. I’d like to let people see each and every thing I do on a daily basis to fight the desire to eat certain foods, or walk a way of life that doesn’t include fitness. It is each person’s choice to live the way they do. I want to empower people to take control of their own life’s decisions and help to make this world a healthier place for our children to grow up in first, by leading by example.
HS: It seems like your definitely on the right path to making a difference to others. Thank you for taking the time to do this interview. Hollywood Swagger wants to give people a good understanding of all the different walks of life that people take here, and you’re definitely reflecting light on one of the better paths one can choose.
Kara: Thank you giving me this interview!
HS: Make sure you keep us updated how the competitions, modeling, and any other ventures you get into, turn out.
